Samsung may launch Galaxy Watch 4, Watch Active 4 with blood glucose monitor ahead of Apple Watch 7 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Samsung is expected to launch two smartwatches this year. According to tipster Ice Universe, the company is expected to launch Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4.
Now the tipster has revealed that the company is planning to launch both the smartwatches during the second quarter of the year. This means that the company can launch the new smartwatches anytime between April to June.
Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 3 in August along with the Galaxy Note 20 series. This year the company is planning to launch the devices earlier. Samsung has decided to move up the timing so that it can release the devices before Apple Watch Series 7 which is expected to launch in September-October.
Both smartwatches from Samsung and Apple will come with sensors that will enable users to measure blood glucose levels. So, Samsung is planning to introduce the watch early to be the first to offer this feature. This feature will help diabetic patients to save the money they spend on testing and will also relieve them from the pain of testing.
According to rumours, these new smartwatches from Samsung and Apple won’t require blood test strips for glucometer.
A recent report by IDC revealed the watch segment in India grew significantly. As per the report, “Watches saw a 139.3% YoY growth with 2.6 million unit shipments in 2020.”
Leading the smartwatch category is none other than Apple. Apple, according to IDC, has a 51% market share in the smartwatch category. IDC classifies smartwatches as devices “which can run third-party applications on the device itself”.
