Sushant Singh Rajput case: Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer alleges NCB has ‘no record’ of data from late star’s phone in drug case – Times of India

Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Manshide, has alleged that the Narcotics Control Bureau, had “nothing on record” to show that they were collecting material from late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s phone orlooking into his transactions in the ongoing drugs case.

In their arguments on the bail application in the Bombay High Court, Chakraborty’s legal counsel claimed that the “only person consuming drugs was Sushant Singh Rajput” and that there was nothing to show that Rhea had purchased or sold drugs.

“There is nothing to show that she is an active member. There is no evidence,” Maneshinde said.

According to tweets on BarandBench, the actress’ lawyer argued, “During the entire NCB trial, there was nothing on record to show that the NCB was collecting material from SSR’s phone or his transactions. There was also nothing on record to show SSR’s consumption before meeting Rhea.”

The NCB opposed the bail pleas filed by the actress and her brother Showik Chakraborty, following their arrest in a drugs case related to Rajput’s death.

In its affidavit, the NCB said that Rhea, despite knowing that Rajput consumed drugs, had ‘harboured and concealed’ it. “This would tantamount to harbouring. Rhea also allowed her residence for drug storage and consumption by Rajput,” the affidavit said.

Reacting to the charges, Rhea’s lawyer asked, “How does Rhea ‘harbour’ Sushant when he is in his own house?”

He further went on to argue, “The point with respect to harbouring him the Prosecution says, that Sushant Singh Rajput sent a courier from his house to Rhea’s house for the drugs and stored in her house, but he never lived at her house in that period.”

The NCB has also said in an affidavit that the siblings were “active members of a drug syndicate that was connected with high society personalities and drug suppliers.”

The NCB further said both Rhea and Showik had “abetted and financed” drug transactions. It also said that the siblings used to facilitate drug deliveries and payment through credit cards, cash and other payment gateways.

In his argument, Maneshinde claimed that NCB had no evidence to show that the ‘small quantity’ which was brought in by Rhea was further sold for profit. “It was for Sushant Singh Rajput’s consumption. There is no evidence that the applicants consumed the drugs,” he argued.

Maneshinde alleged that the investigation was being carried out on the accused who are not ‘consumers’ and alleged that there was “no direct payment from Rhea’s debit card to anybody.”

On September 24, a bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal suggested that the NCB file its reply to the bail pleas of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother, who were arrested earlier this month and are currently in judicial custody till October 6.
