Swara Bhasker gets teary during bidaai ceremony, her father calls it an ’emotionally charged moment’ – Times of India

Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad’s wedding festivity recently concluded in Delhi with an emotional bidaai ceremony. The bride left from her maternal home and was welcomed by the groom’s family.

A video from the emotional ceremony has surfaced on the internet and Swara is seen getting teary as a poem is being narrated about the bidaai. Decked in a pink lehenga and heavy jewellery, the actress is seen standing with husband Fahad. Swara’s mother Ira Bhasker and brother Ishan are also seen in the frame. Reacting to the bidaai ceremony, Swara’s father tweeted, “Thanks for sharing this poignant ‘moment’ @sinjini_m… as the Swara Bhasker wedding reached closure. Yes… the ‘gruff’ Commodore had good reason to stay out of frame… this is indeed an emotionally charged moment even for a ‘khadus (rude)’ dad… the ‘bidai’ of our dear @ReallySwara.”
Swara and Fahad had a registered marriage last month and celebrated functions like haldi, mehendi, Carnatic musical evening, sangeet, qawwali night and reception in Delhi with their friends and family. Speaking about their union, the couple had shared, “We are both very conscious and proud of our identities and nobody wants to change anybody. We planned things that are common to both our traditions. Haldi is something that happens in both. It’s called ubtan in Muslims. Mehendi happens on both sides. Sangeet happens on both sides. In India, an interfaith couple that does not convert, can only get married in the court under the Special Marriage Act. That we have done. Now we are trying to build a common tradition of celebrations.”
