tesla app store: Tesla may be planning to have its own app store – Times of India

Electric carmaker Tesla could be working on its own app store, much like Apple and Google app stores, as per a report by GizChina. Rumours about the Elon Musk company having its own app store have been doing the rounds since December last year, with the version 11 update of the in-car interface in the Tesla vehicles.
The company had also added a customisable icon bar at the bottom the touchscreen in its vehicles. A separate app store would allow those travelling in the self-driving vehicles to take on other tasks.
The rumour has got a fresh lease of life after a tweet by Tesla investor, Sawyer Merritt, who hinted about the arrival of the Tesla app store soon. He shared a video of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs announcing the App Store in the video. “Rumour has it something similar is coming soon to something with four wheels that starts with a T,” says the tweet.

Also, Teslascope, a Tesla trip-tracking app, also retweeted the video.
It was also expected that Elon Musk would reveal about the app store in January at the electric carmaker’s earnings call, which did not happen. As per Teslascope, since the app store announcement was not made at the earnings call, its launch might have been delayed.
It also claimed that the electric carmaker has been working on its own app store from around May 2021 and that it will launch before deliveries of the Cybertruck. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has not mentioned about a new app store coming to Tesla vehicles, so we will have to take this rumour with a grain of salt.
