This is how Facebook may solve this ‘major’ problem with WhatsApp calls – Times of India

Group calls have certainly become one of the most widely-used features of WhatsApp. One issue with group call that WhatsApp users face time and again is that if you come late to the party and your friends are already engaged on call, you either have to ask them to add you to the call, alternatively if you call them then they will have to disconnect their call and then accept yours.
But it seems WhatsApp has found a way to fix this inconvenience by adding a ‘join missed call’ functionality.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.20.203.3. With this update, WhatsApp has been discovered to be working on a feature that will allow users to join missed group calls.

“If someone between your contacts invites you to join a group call, and you aren’t able to join in that moment, you will be able to join the next time you open WhatsApp, if the call hasn’t been closed,” said the report.
As per the screenshot provided in the report, the WhatsApp user will get the option to either ‘Join” or ‘Ignore’ the call.
This particular feature has been found to be under development as of now and is expected to be rolled out to users in a future update. Further, even though traces of this feature have been found on the Android beta version of the app, it is expected to be rolled out to iOS as well.
