As reported by Chinese publication 36Kr, Vivo is planning to integrate iQoo in its main business to reduce costs and increase efficiency. For the uninitiated, Vivo and iQoo have always shared various resources such as R&D, supply chain and media procurement in the past. But both the companies have operated independently in some segments such as planning, e-commerce-related operations and media strategy.
With this upcoming change, the smartphone maker will be merging iQoo’s branding and online business teams with Vivo’s existing teams. The report adds that Vivo’s senior management has already discussed the possibility of shutting down iQoo’s independent stores and counters.
Another research report by CINNO has revealed that the Chinese smartphone market witnessed negative growth in January and smartphone maker Vivo also saw a significant decline of 13.5%. Presently Vivo alone is the fifth largest player of the Chinese smartphone maker. With the coming together of iQoo, the smartphone maker is expected to witness growth and consolidate its position in the market.
Meanwhile, iQoo recently launched its mid-range smartphone iQoo Z7 in India. iQoo Z7 comes in two variants 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB priced at Rs 18,999 and Rs 19,999 respectively. The smartphone can be purchased in Norway Blue and Pacific Night colour options. The smartphone will be available online on Amazon.in and iQoo.com.
