Watch: Rohit Sharma straightaway takes DRS after umpire decision leaves him frustrated | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India skipper Rohit Sharma was left frustrated after he was given out by the umpire for a close short leg catch in the last over of the first day of the second Test against Australia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.
Rohit tried to fend it down the tossed up delivery on the leg side and Marnus Labuschagne took a low diving catch. Bowler Nathan Lyon and other Aussie players made a huge appeal thinking Rohit edged the ball and umpire Michael Gough immediately raised his finger.

But Rohit wasted no time to review the decision in frustration as he was all but sure that the ball did not connect the bat. Ultra Edge showed there was no bat involved and the ball hit on the pads.
At stumps, India were 21 for no loss with Rohit Sharma (13 batting) and KL Rahul (4 batting) at the crease in reply to Australia’s 263 all out in the first innings.
Pacer Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers with his four-wicket haul to help the hosts bundle out Australia in the last session of the first day.
Shami’s (14.4-4-60-4) repertoire of deliveries was on full display as he struck with the new, semi-new and old ball, while Ravichandran Ashwin (21-4-57-3) and Ravindra Jadeja (21-2-68-3) came up with breakthroughs just when the opposition seemed to be gaining foothold as India took the opening day’s honours.
