Wipro is today more agile, focused: Rishad Premji – Times of India

BENGALURU: Wipro chairman Rishad Premji said that the company is well positioned to leverage and enable the digital transformation that has swept across businesses over the last one year due to the pandemic.
“For companies such as ours, the key to success is to respond to this opportunity with speed and agility. With the rapid shift to digital, the demand for talent will outpace supply, and become a key dependency for growth,” Premji said in his letter to shareholders in the company’s latest annual report.
The digital transformation has also led to new delivery models such as work from anywhere, and crowdsourcing becoming the mainstay. Hybrid work models are expected to be the future of work.
The company brought in former Capgemini executive Thierry Delaporte as CEO last year to replace Abidali Neemuchwala. That new strategy under the Frenchman has boosted investor confidence and outlook for the company.
“The difficult but necessary changes we have made, has made us a stronger and better organisation. Proximity to customers is key, as is reflected in our new business model,” Premji wrote.
He said Wipro under Delaporte has put a deep and prioritised focus on countries, industry sectors, offerings, and partnership, along with an operating structure that makes it agile and nimble. “Overall, I see a much stronger external market orientation at Wipro. Several new leaders have joined us to take forward this transformation,” Premji said.
The company is seeking shareholders nod to raise Premji’s fixed salary to a range of Rs 5-12 crore, from Rs 4.5-9 crore per annum. The fixed salary may include onetime payouts, if any, within the proposed overall range of remuneration as may be approved by the directors. Premji is also entitled to a commission of 0.35% of the incremental consolidated net profits of Wipro.
