Xiaomi Redmi 8A starts receiving Android 10 update in India – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Smartphone maker Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 10 update for its budget smartphone Redmi 8A in India. The Android update comes without MIUI 12. The smartphone was launched with Android 9.0 Pie operating system topped with MIUI 11.
As per an online report, Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 10 update for Redmi 8A based on MIUI 11. This is the same update that the company rolled out in China last month. The update comes with the stable version of Android 10 and weighs 1.6GB in size. Along with the usual Android 10 features, the update also includes the security patch for the month of August. After the update, Redmi 8A users will be able to use features like Dark Theme, Smart Reply in messages, Focus mode, Live Caption, and others.

The Redmi 8A falls under the ultra-budget segment and it comes with a 6.22-inch HD+ display with 720×1520 pixel resolution. The display is protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 512GB by adding a microSD card. The device comes with a triple card slot and with a P2i coating which makes it splash resistant.
Redmi 8A sports a 12MP single-lens rear camera with LD flash and f/1.8 aperture. The front is home to an 8MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone is backed by a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
