10,000 years and 4 million ‘Vikings’: The story of Valheim – Times of India

Action-adventure open-world game Valheim has crossed the four million player mark on the Steam platform within three weeks of its launch in Early Access. Also, the game has hit 5 lakh concurrent Steam players that put it amongst the top 5 most played games in the history of Steam. The game has also been played for a combined time of a mind-boggling 10,000 years. Iron Gate AB, the developers of the sandbox game, announced this accomplishment via a post on the game’s Steam page.
The Viking survival game has also climbed to the 57th spot in Steam’s Top 250 best-reviewed games of all time, as per Iron Gate AB.
It has not even been one month since its launch and Valheim has become quite popular on the Steam platform. The game is still in Early Access mode and can be purchased for Rs 529. It had 2 million players within 13 days of its release, a number that has steadily grown and now stands at 4 million.
The game is set in the realm of Valheim, where you play as a fallen hero who has been borne by the Valkyries to this 10th Norse realm. You can go about exploring the wilds of Valheim, hunt animals, build structures and places to live, forge weapons and armour. Basically, try to live a life of adventure and survive the same. As a Viking, you can either go solo or team up with friends online and share experiences in Valheim together. The game is only playable in the third person.
