A sneak peek into Dabboo Ratnani’s star-studded calendar – Times of India

The launch of celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar was delayed this year due to the pandemic. Despite the limitations, the photographer managed to capture some great shots of the stars. Dabboo says, “Putting the calendar together was a different experience this time. We worked with a small crew and followed all the protocols. We shot between December 2020 and February this year, before the second wave of COVD-19 struck.” The launch of the calendar, which is an annual event attended by B-Town actors, took the online route this year, with the photographer releasing his shots one-by-one. BT shares some yet-unseen, exclusive shots from the 22nd edition of the calendar, along with some behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the photographer:

MOODY BLUES: Alia Bhatt
“Alia’s blue gown, the dewy feel and the entire look is like she’s red-carpet ready,” says Dabboo, adding, “We’ve shot her in a grunge avatar before. This picture is more about her mood and expression.”

RED-HOT AND ROCKING: Saif Ali Khan
“I had never really done this kind of a shot. For this photo with Saif, I used a red glass filter, which cuts across the picture. The look is futuristic. We finished this shoot within five minutes at his house. The feel is edgy and Saif pulled it off well. He loved the picture when he saw it,” says the photographer.

‘ABS’OLUTELY AWESOME: Hrithik Roshan
Dabboo says, “This year, we decided to do a body shot with Hrithik in black and white. Usually, body shots with men have them standing, which exude power and energy. But we decided to have him lying down on a shiny granite floor. We gave it a different feel by keeping it intense, cool and very superhero-ish.”

BEAUTY IN BOOTS: Tara Sutaria
Tara Sutaria, who began her journey in Bollywood with Student Of The Year 2, makes her debut on Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar, which was delayed this year due to the pandemic. The actress, who was last seen in Marjaavaan, looks super glam in a simple white button-down shirt that she paired with knee-length boots. Talking about the stunning picture, Dabboo says, “I have shot many actresses in a button-down white shirt. There are so many unique ways to work around it. With Tara, we decided to team it with boots and interesting lighting. The shot has a great vibe; it looks modern and young.”
