The filmmaker was famous for Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer ‘Drishyam’, and Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’, John Abraham in two films, ‘Force’ and ‘Rocky Handsome‘ among others. Recently, Ajay took to his Twitter handle to mourn the demise of Kamat. The actor tweeted, ”My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant”.

Earlier today, rumours of his death were doing the rounds on social media. Later, people close to him revealed that the filmmaker is very critical and on a ventilator but very much alive. The hospital released a statement: ”Mr Nishikant Kamat is currently on ventilator support and continues to be in a critical condition.”
A few days back, the filmmaker was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad for jaundice and abdominal distention, he was diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. He has been in the Intensive Care Unit ever since.
