Akshay Kumar recently got teary-eyed at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, ‘Prithviraj’ as he remembered his late mother. The actor wished his mother was around to watch him play this iconic role on screen.

The actor said, “Prithviraj is an educational film. It is something everyone should learn and know about. I am very proud to be associated with the film and I wish my mother would be around to see me playing this. She would be so proud.” Elaborating further, Akshay also added that he did not learn or unlearn anything in particular. He just came on the sets and followed the director.

The film also stars Manushi Chhillar in the lead role, opposite Akshay in the period drama. The actress revealed that she had no intention of becoming an actress before the film was offered to her. However, Manushi added that when it did, she had no reason to say no. According to her, it is one of the biggest launches anyone could ask for.

Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj Bhasha epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, the king from the Chahamana dynasty. Apart from Akshay and Manushi, the historical drama also features Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Sakshi Tanwar, Ashutosh Rana and Lalit Tiwari in key roles. It is slated to hit the theatres on June 3, 2022.
