apple: How 2022 can be the biggest year in the history of Apple Watch – Times of India

Apple will reportedly launch a range of products this year including new iPhones, Macs, iPads, smartwatches, AirPods, AR/VR headset and more. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that 2022 will be the biggest year in the history of Apple Watch since the launch of the original model. According to Gurman, the tech giant will launch three new smartwatches this year — Apple Watch Series 8, upgraded Apple Watch SE and an Apple Watch geared toward extreme sports. Gurman has mentioned in his Power On newsletter that he does not expect any major upgrades in Apple smartwatches when it comes to health sensors. He also believes that the wearables may feature body temperature feature, faster chips and better activity tracking. The company may also retire the Apple Watch Series 3 this year.
As per previous reports, the Apple Watch Series 8 will feature a bigger display and it will be available in three sizes. The Series 8 will reportedly have a bigger display than its predecessor Series 7. Apple last year increased the sizes of the two models from 40mm and 44mm to 41mm and 45mm, respectively. Apple Watch Series 8 may also have the flat edge design.
The Watch Series 8 is also tipped to get new health features including a body-temperature sensor, fertility feature, improved irregular-heartbeat monitoring and sleep patterns tracking. Upcoming models may also offer non-invasive blood-sugar monitoring and a blood pressure tool. The Apple smartwatch targeted at athletes, hikers and others who use the watch in more extreme conditions is rumoured to be an Apple Watch Series 8 variant with rugged casing.
When it comes to the new Apple Watch SE, the smartwatch may come with features like an always-on display, ECG support and blood oxygen monitor. It is also expected to come with an updated design, though details on this front are yet not known. The company is also expected to bring a rugged variant of the Apple Watch SE 2.
