‘Arresting Aryan Khan was a consensual decision’ – Report – Times of India

After Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was given clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the cruise drug bust case, former NCB Zonal director Sameer Wankhede transferred to Chennai.

Now, according to a report, the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer is being hounded by bigwigs for doing his job as an investigator honestly. The report further stated that an NCB source told that Wankhed is being ‘singled out’ for the harassment given the people he arrested or interrogated during the investigation.

The NCB source told Rediff, “The decision to arrest Aryan Khan was a consensual decision, not a one-man command that was followed without following the due procedure of arrest under the NDPS Act. It was a consensual decision including the opinion of the public prosecutor. But the media dubbed it as one man’s agenda.”

Elaborating the same, the source told the website that in such high-profile cases, the decision to arrest someone is followed by a proper channel. Even the highest command in the chain is involved in this and after that, the arrests are made.

The source also stated that a month before Aryan’s arrest Wankhede was awarded the Union Minister’s medal of excellence in investigations.

NCB gave a clean chit to Aryan, following which the ministry of home affairs (MHA) recommended action against Wankhede for a “shoddy probe” in a drug bust on Cordelia, a cruise ship, on October 2, 2021.
