Bangladeshi couple were arrested in 2019 for illegal stay and served their two-year sentence in the Yerawada central jail. They came to India with the help of an agent who promised to arrange some work for them but were scammed. Inspector Rajendra Landage said, “A Bangladeshi couple was arrested in 2019 without valid documents and sent to jail for 2 yrs and 3 months. For last 2 months (after their release), they have been living in Faraskhana PS as they wait for approval from the embassy for return. We have requested Bangladesh embassy to facilitate their return as soon as possible. We provide them food and other necessary items.”
