Call of Duty Modern Warfare II beta update release date revealed: Who can play and what is new – Times of India

The multiplayer beta update for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is scheduled to arrive in September. According to a report by The Verge, the game’s developer Infinity Ward has revealed the same at the recently concluded Call of Duty League Championship (CDL Champs) tournament. Initially, PlayStation players will be able to access the beta update and soon after, it will be made available for Xbox and PC users. Previously, the beta update release dates used to vary across different consoles and used to depend on preordering the game.

As per the report, the first early access beta will start on September 16 and run through September 17 for PlayStation 4 and 5 players who have preordered the game. Following that, the open beta for all PlayStation players will begin on September 18 and will end on September 20.

On the other hand, the cross-play beta for players who have preordered the game on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC will be available from September 22-23. Meanwhile, the open cross-play beta for all platforms will arrive on September 24 and will go on till September 26. The report also mentions that each session will begin at 1 pm EST (which is 10.30 pm IST)

The report also mentions that Infinity Ward is offering players who haven’t pre-ordered the game, a chance to receive a beta code that’ll give them early access. The developer has shared some codes during the CDL Champs tournament, yet players will have more opportunities to get one from various streamers and YouTubers before the beta’s start date.
Other changes coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Apart from this, Infinity Ward also teased a new multiplayer map, called Grand Prix, at the CDL Champs tournament. This new map which is based on a racetrack will be available for players during the beta phase.

The first glimpse at Modern Warfare II was offered by the developers in June, however, Infinity Ward is set to reveal more about the upcoming game at its Call of Duty: Next event (which will also include a full multiplayer reveal) which is scheduled on September 15. The final version of Modern Warfare II is set to launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC on October 28.
