The Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) candidate, Rajkumar Roat (31), wields the ‘hockey stick and a ball’ as his symbol. However, his reign over the name ‘Rajkumar’ is challenged by two independent candidates, both bearing the same name and wielding symbols that could be mistaken for Roat’s.
One Rajkumar (32), hailing from Dungarpur’s Chikhali tehsil, brandishes a ‘bat’ as his symbol, while the other Rajkumar (28), from Banswara’s Kushalgarh tehsil, carries a ‘walking stick’ into the electoral fray.
Roat, with a hint of mischief in his voice, alleges that the BJP candidate, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, orchestrat-ed this symphony of confusion, fielding the two independent ‘Rajkumars’ to sow seeds of doubt among voters. He claims that the handwriting on the nomination forms of the independent candidates matches that of Malviya’s, and a viral photo shows the trio posing together after filing their papers.
Malviya, however, dismisses these allegations with a chuckle, questioning whether there can be only one ‘Rajkumar’ in the world. He argues that if there are multiple ‘Rajkumars,’ they have every right to contest elections, denying any involvement in this coincidence.
The two independent ‘Rajkumars’ have remained unreachable, fuelling speculation about their motives.
As the electoral battle unfolds, the voters of Banswara (ST) are left to navigate this humorous maze of symbols and names, adding a touch of levity to the serious business of choosing their representative. Whether intentional or not, this ‘Rajkumar’ conundrum has undoubtedly captured the imagination of the electorate, injecting a dose of light-heartedness into the political discourse.
