Derecognition of NSFs to continue till September 18 | More sports News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The country’s national sports federations (NSFs) will continue to remain derecognised until September 18 and the government will, as usual, carry on with organising the national camps.
The NSFs will continue to be mere spectators, devoid of any financial grant and assistance. And going by the sports ministry‘s attitude, a respite from nearly two-month long suspension doesn’t look to be arriving soon.
Friday was the day when 57 derecognised NSFs would have hoped for a reprieve from the court but the two-judge special bench directed the ministry (MYAS), which is a respondent in the case, to file its application “on record” to counter petitioner Rahul Mehra‘s charge that almost all NSFs have been flouting certain provisions of the 2011 sports code. The ministry’s response ensured another month-long delay for the NSFs.
The ministry had provided the NSFs their provisional annual recognition until September 30 earlier in June this year before the decision was challenged by Mehra in the court and recognitions were subsequently withdrawn. Now, with the next date scheduled for September 18, the ministry would be left with less than two weeks after the hearing when the September 30 deadline expires.
