Exclusive! Sonalee Kulkarni on clocking 15 years in the industry: Having no godfather in the industry and still being able to make my mark, feels incredible – Times of India

Among the female actors in the Marathi industry, if there is a star who has managed to make a mark in Marathi cinema with her constant hard work and performances, it is Sonalee Kulkarni.

The Marathi cinema’s ‘Apsara’ has successfully carved a niche for herself in the industry. Interestingly, as Sonalee Kulkarni has completed 15 years in the industry, the ‘Hirkani’ actress opened up about how she has changed during this journey.

Talking about it in an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Sonalee Kulkarni said, “Insane, it’s been crazy, rollercoaster but full of gratification. I never thought I will become an actor. I always wanted to but never imagined myself fulfilling this dream. Never imagined working for so long and still being able to make my mark. Without making any compromises on my values or my creative freedom. I have been able to do everything on my own with the people who came across this journey”

Furthermore, Sonalee also stated that she managed to make her mark in the industry without having a godfather. “Coming from a non-filmy background and having no godfather in the industry, feels incredible. I never did theatre and didn’t take any dance training. So, I come from a very humble and no filmy setup. I would like to thank everyone from critics, writers, and directors to actors, who helped me to become this. Even people who criticised me. This has helped me to work on myself and keep proving myself every day”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonalee is currently gearing up for Rahul Jadhav’s ‘Moghul Mardini Chhatrapati Tararani’.

This mega-blockbuster, one-of-a-kind, film will be produced in both Marathi and English. Chhatrapati Tararani will create history yet again, this time as a first-ever Marathi Hollywood film.
