google: Google for India: New India-specific features in Assistant, Search and Google Pay – Times of India

Google has announced new India-specific product features and partnerships at the seventh edition of Google for India conference. The tech giant claims that the features will help new internet users in India get easier access to information and provide support to small businesses and youth. Here are a few new features announced by the company:
Google Assistant-enabled end-to-end vaccine booking
The company has announced a pilot where Google Assistant will help users through the process of booking a vaccination appointment on the COWIN website with voice guidance in English and eight Indian languages at each step.

The company claims that it has worked closely with COWIN to enable this integration and it will be available in Chrome browser on Android smartphones from early 2022.
Google Search translates results in local language
Google has announced the launch of a new feature in Search that will give users an option to access web pages from other languages and view it in their preferred local language. Now, when searching in a local language, if Google is not able to locate websites that have information in that language, it will find content on pages that may be in other languages and translate these into the language of the user’s query.

The company also launched a global first Search feature that will enable users to hear search results out loud. This feature will be available in Hinglish (a conversational hybrid of Hindi and English) and five Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.
Google Pay gets Hinglish language and more
The company is adding Hinglish language to Google Pay. With this addition, users will be able to navigate the app in the language of their preference, with Hinglish as an option to mirror how a large section of Indians interact naturally.

Google Pay also announced the upcoming launch of speech to text feature that will allow users to use voice as an input to add account numbers into the app to initiate a payment and an additional feature to split bills for shared expenses within a group.
