The Supreme Court has asked centre that it can not close the cases against two Italian marines till victims family members are not paid adequate compensation. It also allowed the Centre to file fresh plea making the victims’ family members parties to its application for seeking closure of Italian Marines case. Italian marines accused of killing of two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast in February 2012. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench, headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde also comprising Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian, that Italy has assured the Indian government that it would prosecute the marines.
