JD(U) distances itself from Bihar House protests | India News – Times of India

PATNA: The Bihar assembly on Friday witnessed strong protests by lawmakers of the Grand Alliance (GA) constituents against the conviction and two-year jail sentence of Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case.
CM Nitish Kumar was present in the assembly, but did not react. His party, JD(U), did not join the demonstration and joint march organised by the Grand Alliance MLAs, but later condemned the termination of Rahul’s LS membership.
“When elections are near, the lower court order in an old case does not appear to be a natural process,” state parliamentary affairs minister and JD(U) functionary Vijay Kumar Choudhary said. “The ending of the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul within 24 hours of the court order is quite unnatural. Such incidents in politics do not portend well.”
