Johnny Depp alerts fans of imposters on social media; says ‘there are fake accounts pretending to be me’ – Times of India

Johnny Depp is warning his fans about imposters claiming to be him on social media. The Hollywood star issued a statement on his Instagram stories regarding his accounts following a surge in attention in the aftermath of his highly publicised case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Late Sunday night, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ said that he had been ‘made aware’ of the fake accounts operating in his name or alleging to be people working with the star. Alerting fans that he only has one profile and no other ‘private account’, he penned a note asking all to ‘remain cautious’.

“I’ve been made aware that there are fake accounts pretending to be me or people working with me. I do not have any private or side accounts on any platforms. These are the only pages run by me and my team where we share updates and communicate: INSTAGRAM @Johnny Depp TIKTOK @Johnny Depp FACEBOOK @Johnny Depp DISCORD @Johnny Depp0854,” he wrote.

“I ask that you remain cautious as it seems these fake accounts can be relentless. My team is working to combat the problem. Thank you for your continued support and for making me aware of this issue! Love & respect, JD X”

Following his victory in the defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp has shifted focus to his film and music career. Besides getting ready to release a new album, the actor is reportedly getting primetime promos from brands again.

The actor who has been the face of Dior fragrance, was back on television early this June. Sales of the perfume he was endorsing also reported record sales following the verdict in the case.

If you didn’t know, Johnny became the face of the scent for the company back in 2015.
