It may be recalled that all major universities in the state, including University of Mysore (UoM), are now offering various courses online. These universities launched online courses after the state government stopped them from offering any courses in the distance education mode and awarded exclusive right to KSOU.
“In the initial phase, we hope to launch 11 courses like MA in Kannada, MA in Hindi, MBA, BSc (IT), BCA in the online mode,” explained Vidyashankar. “As per the UGC regulations, only the courses offered in the distance mode can be offered via online mode also,” he explained.

Meanwhile, KSOU received good response from students to January cycle admission for several courses. Around 8,500 candidates applied for various courses in the January cycle.

“Amid Covid second wave, we are receiving good response for all our courses,” explained Vidyashankar.
