KUTA elections: Parmesh Kumar elected president – Times of India

KURUKSHETRA: After the Kurukshetra University Teachers’ Association (KUTA) elections conducted at the campus on Tuesday, associate professor (AP) Parmesh Kumar of the Department of Zoology, KU has been elected as the president of the association.

The election process was conducted for the posts of association’s president, vice-president (VP), secretary, joint secretary while the treasurer Sanjay Kumar was elected unopposed during a varsity meeting earlier.

The KU officials told that the contest for KUTA president was between AP Parmesh Kumar who bagged 190 votes and assistant professor Naresh Kumar of the Department of Geology, who bagged 144 votes and the win, is by a margin of 46 votes.

Similarly, Dalip Kumar of the Department of Law has been elected as VP as he bagged 216 votes and defeated Ramesh Kumar by a margin of 101 votes, who could get 115 votes.

Vivek Gaur of Institute of Integrated and Honors Studies (IIHS) is elected as secretary as he bagged 202 votes, trailed by Chander Kant with 79 votes and Vijay Kumar with 54 votes.

Harwinder Singh of the Department of Law is elected as joint secretary as he bagged 194 votes and defeated Pardeep Kumar Mittal, who could get 142 votes.

The election was also conducted for a member of the KU executive committee from the Faculty of Education between Kuldeep Singh and Rajvir Singh and Kuldeep got 17 votes while Rajvir got only two.
