Congress leader Manish Tewari on October 27 demanded photo of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on currency notes. It has come a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded photo of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi on currency notes. Manish Tewari said, “I’m not against his statement. Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi have special place in Indian culture and before doing important work we pray to them. So Arvind Kejriwal is right on his part. Indian currency is a reflection of sovereignty. Dr Ambedkar gave constitutional status to that sovereignty. There’s a flexibility to accommodate Dr Ambedkar, Lord Ganesha-Goddess Laxmi, mythological figures and even figures from the present days on the currency notes.”
