Moderate risk of Monkeypox in South-East Asia region: WHO | News – Times of India Videos

As the spread of the Monkeypox virus is slowly gripping nations, the World Health Organisation South-East Asia Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal on July 25 informed that the risk of Monkeypox in the region is assessed as moderate. “Monkeypox cases are being reported from multiple countries. Risk of Monkeypox globally and in WHO South-East Asia Region is assessed as moderate,” said Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, RD (SE-Asia), WHO. She also informed that WHO is regularly reviewing available data with its laboratory and other expert groups. “Since the start of the outbreak, WHO has been supporting countries. We need to stay alert and be prepared to roll out an intense response to curtail the spread of Monkeypox and while doing this, our efforts and measures should be sensitive, and devoid of stigma and discrimination,” she added.
