Mrunal Thakur would like to play THIS legendary actress on screen – Times of India

After the first look of her last release got unveiled, it drew comparisons with Bollywood’s legendary actress Madhubala. As her made her south debut with Sita Ramam starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur was on cloud nine when she won that attention for her look.

Reacting to the overwhelming reaction she received, the Toofaan actress who’s a big fan of Madhubala herself told BT, “I am excited that people drew comparisons with Madhubala over my look in the film. When I was shooting for this Telugu film, on the sets too, a lot of people came to me and complimented me on the resemblance. I am a big fan of Madhubala ji. I remember watching so many of her songs and it is an honour when someone compares me with someone of that stature.”

Mrunal hopes that this buzz leads to something even more concrete. “As much love I received for my look from the fans, I wish that if filmmakers too see me in that light, then I would want someone to approach me for a Madhubala biopic. I know it won’t be easy to pull off a Madhubala on screen, but I will definitely have to work hard and put in my best.”

As she forays into south cinema, Mrunal in an earlier chat had opened up about working across borders too. She had said, “I have done a Telugu film now. Language should never be a barrier for an actor. What matters is how you are able to reach out to the audience. We have a different range of viewers and I don’t just want to cater to a particular Bollywood, Marathi or south audience. I want to do international films in foreign languages like Spanish and French too. It is always nice to learn about different cultures through these films. So, I am really happy that I don’t prefer to get stereotyped.”
