MS Dhoni would never panic, he could absorb so much pressure: Dwayne Bravo | Cricket News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Dwayne Bravo has often been MS Dhoni‘s go-to man in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The West Indies all-rounder, who is currently playing for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, has won Chennai Super Kings many matches both with the bat and the ball.
For Dhoni, Bravo was always CSK’s best death bowler. Bravo, on the other hand, believes Dhoni is arguably “the best finisher the game has ever seen”. With the CSK captain announcing his international retirement last week, Bravo recalled the match against India in Florida in 2016, when he stopped the Jharkhand cricketer from winning a T20 game for India in the last over.

“I only had to defend six runs in that over and I was bowling to the best finisher in the game. Dhoni is a very difficult opponent to bowl to, so it was a great achievement for me to stop him from getting those runs. I wish I could have bowled more to him in international cricket because I always like bowling to the best,” Bravo told TOI on the sidelines of a promotional event.
Bravo feels Dhoni is still one of the best in the business but he respects his CSK skipper’s decision to quit international cricket. “As cricket lovers we would have loved to see him play for as long as possible but the reality is we have to stop some time. But there’s still the IPL and he is very much there,” Bravo added.
Talking about the best attributes of the former Indian captain, the T&T man spoke about Dhoni‘s ability to stay calm in moments of crisis. “As a player he used to absorb so much pressure and never panicked. Dhoni always gives players belief and confidence, which is the hallmark of any great captain,” Bravo said.

In a month’s time, after his CPL commitments are over, Bravo will be in the UAE to play under Dhoni for CSK. The conditions will be different, the pitches slow —- something that CSK love —- but Bravo feels it won’t be of extra help to the franchise. “Every team has quality players and all know how to adapt. So I don’t think the conditions will favour any one team but CSK, of course, is a side which knows how to do well in any condition,” he said.
Bravo feels his compatriots Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell “will be the most difficult to bowl to” because of their ability to clear the boundaries at ease. He also believes it will be a challenge for bowlers to adapt to the saliva ban in the desert heat to keep the ball ready for some swing. “Yes, we have to address it and find different ways to shine the ball,” Bravo said, indicating that he is up for the challenge.
