The revenue secretary said that there is no proposal to extend the deadline to file income tax returns. The official deadline to file income tax returns remains the same that is 31 December. Taxpayers can file their returns by midnight today (December 31) failing which a fine of up to Rs 5000 can be imposed for late ITR filing.
