‘One DU’ to bring all learning resources on single platform – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Delhi University is planning to launch an integrated e-learning resource to help teaching-learning across all its colleges and departments. The programme, ‘One DU’, will be a “flexible” medium that will provide all learning resources offered by DU on a single platform.

An apex committee was formed by DU on August 6 to formulate the protocol for online education, facilitate technical support to departments, colleges, centres, and other academic bodies, to suggest best practices in the fields of online education, to facilitate the preparation of user-friendly short videos and FAQs to meet the objective of online education and to identify and encourage faculties to prepare syllabi-specific e-resources for the university community.

After a month of discussions the beta version of the programme is ready and is set to go online from next week. Chairperson of the committee Pami Dua, also the dean of academic activities and projects, said that DU will come out with the information on the platform soon.

According to apex committee member and DU Computer Centre head Sanjeev Singh, the programme is being developed by a team of researchers who were also behind DU’s online open book exams (OBE).

Singh explained that “One DU is an initiative for providing and creating a uniform online teaching -learning platform within the university. It will provide assistance to teachers in terms of content creation, lession planning, help them to record their video lectures and broadcast and disseminate them.”

“The principal idea was to aggregate open resources for education and to make sure that they are provided to students on a single platform. Most of these are already present online, but this platform will have all such content at one place, moderated by teachers,” Singh added.
