Now we have learned that they first sold their shares in Phantom Films for a whopping amount to Reliance Entertainment and exited the company fully just before the release of the Kabir Khan-directed 83 and furthermore in a stunning reciprocal development, acquired the Phantom brand and Phantom’s share in the films that Phantom Films co-produced for the last decade, along with some marquee film assets from Reliance Entertainment.
The Phantom library now consists of content of like ’83’, ‘Super 30’, ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Queen’, ‘Lootera’, ‘NH-10’, ‘Masaan’, the cop franchise ‘Singham‘, web show ‘Sacred Games’ and the yet-to-be released ‘Stardust’ by Vikramaditya Motwane amongst others (if any).
Madhu Mantena confirms the news and tells us, “After exiting Phantom Films by selling our shares to Reliance Entertainment, Sheetal and I felt the emotional need to buy back the Phantom brand, the Phantom films and some of the assets that we love. We hope to see the Phantom brand in 2.0 metamorph from a production company into a talent-first Studio which empowers directors and producers equally.”
