Pooja Hegde: Salman Khan can change a scene anytime, you have to think on your feet while shooting with him – Exclusive – Times of India

For the most part of her film career, Pooja Hegde has shared screen space with superstars of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industries. In Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, she is paired opposite Salman Khan in his home production. In a candid conversation, Pooja talks about working with Salman Khan, his ability to improvise and his cool demeanour.
What do you like about the character you are playing in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan?

I got to play a character that was bindaas and loud. My character doesn’t think much before she says something. She does what she wants. She is playful and imitates Salman sir’s character.
What’s the best thing about working with Salman Khan?

He’s just who he is. He’s just chill. He speaks what’s on his mind. He’s so real and that’s refreshing for me because most people don’t do that usually.

Was there anything about Salman Khan that caught you by surprise while shooting for KKBKKJ?

He is very spontaneous. I came with all my preparation and I had to just throw it out of the window because he changes things trying to better a scene. You have to think on your feet. He is very relaxed on set and that translates on screen.

During the shoot, did the producer side of Salman Khan take charge more often?

Not always. Only when he had to take care of something. But he doesn’t get worked up about it because his team is good. They know their job.

You’ve worked in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. Who has been the most comfortable co-star to work with?

It’s a tricky question. Which is why I am not going to answer it (laughs). All my co-stars have been very kind. My first co-star was Jiiva (Mugamoodi, 2012). I had not done any kind of acting class or any performance before shooting with him. So, I would just come to my mark, say my lines quickly, and finish it. Jiiva used to say, “Don’t worry. Take your time. Approach the scene normally. Don’t think too much.” All of that really helped me.
