Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ daughter’s name and birthday REVEALED in official documents – Times of India

Three months after Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas announced the birth of their first child, we finally know what the parents have named the little one.

According to the birth certificate, obtained by TMZ, PeeCee and Nick have named their baby girl – Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.

The official documents also reveal that the baby, born via surrogacy entered the world just after 8 PM on January 15 at a hospital in San Diego. While there hasn’t been an official statement by the couple on the same, the special meaning behind the name Malti is that it is of Sanskrit origin and generally means ‘small fragrant flower or moonlight’.

Priyanka and Nick surprised all when they announced on January 22nd that they welcomed a baby into their lives via surrogacy. Asking fans, friends and the media for privacy during this time, the couple also refused to confirm the name or sex of the child.

‘We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much,’ read their official statement.

As everyone waited for an official post from the couple, PeeCee’s mother, Madhu Chopra revealed that the new parents had not finalised a name for the baby. During an event in Mumbai, Madhu spoke with the paparazzi about becoming a grandmother for the first time and said, “Nani banne ki toh bahut bahut khushi hui mujhe. I am only smiling all the time. I’m very happy.”

When asked about what the couple has named their little one, Madhu said that they were waiting for the priest to give the name. “Jab pandit naam nikaalege tab hoga,” she said hinting that the couple chose to stick to the Hindu tradition to name their child.
