Rajasthan Cricket Association to hold AGM post Diwali to pick selectors, coach | Cricket News – Times of India

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) post Diwali on November 20.
“We will have to pass the minutes of the last AGM. Also, we are expecting by that time the BCCI might also come out with a plan regarding when to start the domestic season. In that scenario, we will have to take a call on appointment of the new coach for the senior men’s team,” said the state association’s secretary, Mahendra Sharma.
Almost a fortnight ago, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had told PTI that the board had extensive discussions on domestic cricket.
“We have tentatively decided to start the (domestic) competitions from January 1, 2021,” Ganguly had said.
“The time to hold AGM was till September 30; but due to Covid-19, we had to delay it. Since things have eased out a bit, we (have) decided to hold it after Diwali. Amendments regarding selection committee’s formation will be one area we will zero in on,” said RCA’s joint-secretary, Mahendra Nahar.
Talking about the RCA’s stance on contentious player representation from Rajasthan in the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA), the secretary said that they have given their explanation to the ombudsman and will proceed as per instructions they receive.
“We had informed the ICA that they had nominated the two players without informing the RCA, while the process demands an election to appoint the player as a representative,” said Sharma.
He added that the cricketers’ association had told them that they had informed about the appointment of Rohit Jhalani and Sonia Beejawat as the representatives from Rajasthan, but somehow RCA missed out on reading the email.
“We told ICA clearly at that time that the confusion has cropped up and it can be settled. Our (RCA and ICA) appeal is with the ombudsman and all of us will stick to the decision made by him,” the secretary added.
Ombudsman Shiv Kirti Singh told TOI that he has sent orders to both the parties.
“A date has been scheduled for the hearing. After they explain their stance, a reasonable order can be passed.”
