Ram Gopal Varma reveals the reason why theatres aren’t screening lesbian theme movie ‘Khatra (Dangerous)’ | Hindi Movie News – Bollywood – Times of India

Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma’s film based on lesbians, ‘Khatra’ (Dangerous) was supposed to hit the theatres on April 8. However, the filmmaker claimed that theatres refused to screen ‘Khatra’ because of its theme. In an interview with a leading news channel, Ram Gopal Varma revealed that the theatre management is anti-LGBTQ, but he plans to convince them to screen ‘Khatra’. The film has now been postponed indefinitely. Khatra is a story based on the relationship between two women. The film is also tipped to be a crime thriller. In an exclusive interview with a leading news portal, Ram Gopal Varma said, ‘Khatra (Dangerous) is about two women. Even the LGBTQ community and some theatres are against the film. I treated the story like how I treat my other films. Instead of a man and a woman, I kept two women in the lead. They want an explanation for the same. I never gave any explanation about a relationship between a man and a woman. Why now?’ Ram Gopal Varma revealed that he is now in talks with theatre management and the members of LGBTQ community about the film. ‘I will work with them to ensure Khatra (Dangerous) releases in theatres,’ he added. Khatra (Dangerous) is a crime thriller-drama featuring Apsara Rani and Naina Ganguly in lead roles. The film is about the relationship between two women after the abrogation of Section 377. For the uninitiated, Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was decriminalised, which made homosexual relationships legal. For more news and updates stay tuned to ETimes
