‘Roohi’ box office collection day 2: Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao starrer earns Rs. 2 crore – Times of India

After almost a year, cine-goers finally got a chance to get entertained in theatres with Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma starrer ‘Roohi’. Despite Covid, the film has managed to perform well at the box office.

According to the report in Boxofficeindia.com, ‘Roohi’ has garnered 2 crore on its second day. The film saw a 25% drop which is normal after a holiday. The film’s total collection now stands at 4.75 crore. It has to be seen if it manages to touch a double-digit number over the weekend.

The report also suggests that the film might see an upward trend on Saturday and Sunday. Janhvi starrer is probably the first film to witness normalcy in terms of box office occupancy since October 2020. ‘Roohi’ is performing well in the Delhi NCR region.

‘Roohi’ is the first big Bollywood film to release after the lockdown. The film was slated to release last year in June but the makers had to postpone it.

Earlier in an interview with ETimes, Varun revealed how ‘Roohi’ happened to him. He had said, “I fell off the chair laughing when writers Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and Gautam Mehra, and producer Dinesh Vijan, gave me a narration. I was flipping especially over the love angle, which is so whacky and quirky. They have written it in a way that you will be convinced my character is in love with the chudail. Plus, the makers of the film are building a horror-comedy universe and I certainly wanted to be a part of it.”
