Run-machine Virat Kohli equals David Warner’s massive IPL record, becomes first batter this season to… | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s star Virat Kohli on Sunday breached the 500-run mark in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), becoming the first batter to do so this season.
The Orange cap holder of the season, Virat Kohli got the feat in the game against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
Kohli, who needed 70 runs to get to the feat, scored the exact same number of runs in RCB‘s third win of the season.
With Kohli getting to the 500-run mark in a season, the RCB opener joined David Warner on the list of most 500-plus run seasons in IPL.
Both have now scored 500-plus runs in a season on 7 occasions.
Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have had 500-plus run seasons on 5 occasions.

Kohli so far has scored 4 fifties and a hundred in IPL 2024 and his runs have come at a strike rate of over 147. The run machine averages a staggering 71.43.
With 500 runs in the bag, Kohli is quite ahead of the competitors with Titans’ Sai Sudharsan — 428 runs — at second spot.

Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson (385), Lucknow Super Giants’ KL Rahul (378) and Rishabh Pant (371) of Delhi Capitals complete the top 5 of the list of highest-run-getters this IPL season.
Will Jacks struck a stunning hundred, while Kohli’s 70 not out powered RCB to a dominating nine-wicket win over the Titans.
Opener Kohli and one-down Jacks (100 not out) shared 166 runs for the unbroken second wicket to overhaul the target of 201 with 24 balls to spare.
RCB reached 206 for 1 in 16 overs.
Earlier, Gujarat Titans posted 200 for 3 after being invited to bat.
Sudharsan (84 not out) and M Shahrukh Khan (58) struck fifties to take GT to the 200-run mark.
