samsung galaxy s21: Samsung may let you unlock phones with your voice – Times of India

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to include voice as a biometric security option for smartphones. As per a report by SamMobile, Samsung may include Bixby voice unlock in its upcoming Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone along with fingerprint scanner and iris scanner. As per the report, voice unlocking will be another option to unlock the device in case the user is not able to use fingerprint or face unlock. Samsung may roll out this feature with OneUI 3.1 update.
While voice unlocking sounds fun, it may definitely not be the safest biometric security option. This is because anyone can record your voice to unlock the device. Having said that Samsung may make voice unlock more effective by letting users use unique phrases or words as voice commands to unlock the phone.
Samsung hasn’t commented officially as to how exactly this feature will be rolled out but voice unlock is said to be exclusive to the Galaxy S21 for some time and later may be rolled out to other phones.
Samsung has been trying to keep Bixby alive and useful in its phones for quite some and the new voice unlock may offer Bixby another chance. Bixby already has the ability to wake up the device with voice commands, so the chances of adding a Bixby voice password may make sense for Samsung.
Samsung plans to launch three smartphones in the Galaxy S21 series— Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. As always, the top-end Ultra variant offers all the firepower.
The S21 Ultra may offer a 6.8-inch WQHD+ LTPO display with 120Hz refresh rate. The device is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC or Samsung’s own chipset Exynos 2100. It may be backed by a 5000mAh battery and on the back, likely to house a quad-camera setup that includes a 12MP ultra wide-angle camera, a 108MP main sensor and two optical telephoto sensors.
