Samsung Galaxy S22 gets astrophoto, multiple exposures in expert RAW, and more – Times of India

Samsung‘s latest flagship – the Galaxy S22 series – comes with ‘nightography,’ which means better low-light photos and videos. However, it missed out on the ‘astrophotography’ found on some of the flagship smartphones, but now the feature is coming to Samsung’s flagship with an update to the Expert RAW camera app.
The Expert RAW app gets astrophoto mode and multiple exposures
The update introduces ‘astrophoto’ mode, allowing star-gazers to take clear photos of constellations and dark sky with the Galaxy S22 series. Users can also turn on the ‘Sky Guide’ to pinpoint the location of constellations, solar systems, and nebula. The camera uses multi-segmentation technology and multi-frame processing to capture shots that look like it clicked from a higher-end professional camera.
Another feature to come to the Expert RAW camera app is multiple exposures – allowing users to click multiple photos at once and overlay them into one single shot.
These two features – astrophoto and multiple exposures – can be accessed from Special Photo within the Expert RAW app.
Samsung introduces Camera Assistant for advanced camera settings
The Camera Assitant app for the Galaxy S22 series lets users tweak camera settings. The app can be downloaded either from Galaxy Store or Good Lock app. The app gives users more control over the stock, providing them with an option to enable or disable certain features.
One of the biggest addition is the option to turn off Auto HDR, which was removed from the recent Galaxy smartphones. Users also get an option to turn off Auto Lens Switching and Video Recording in Photo Mode.
As for the new features you can try out – there is Soften Pictures, that smoothens sharp edges and texture. Users can also choose to have a faster shutter and select how many pictures can be clicked in succession. The camera timeout can also be changed from 1 minute to 10 minutes. Lastly, users can turn on the ‘Clean Preview on HDMI display’ to show the camera preview without settings or buttons on the connected display.
