Satwiksairaj Rankireddy set to return for All England Badminton Championships | Badminton News – Times of India

JAIPUR: There is some good news for the badminton fans. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will be back on the court soon after recovering completely from his injury.
Doubles specialist Satwik is set to play the All-England Championships which will be held in Birmingham from March 14 to 19.
The 22-year-old Satwik was out of action for more than a month after suffering an injury during the India Open in New Delhi on January 19. Defending champions Satwik and Chirag Shetty had to withdraw from the India Open Super 750 after the former pulled his left hip adductor.
The star Indian pair was scheduled to face China’s Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi in the second round.
While Satwik was recovering from his injury, Chirag had to play with a new partner Dhruv Kapila during the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Dubai last month where India lost narrowly 2-3 against China in the semis.
World No. 6 pair of Satwik and Chirag Shetty had a memorable All England Championships last year where they became the first Indian men’s doubles combination to reach the semi-finals.
“Satwik has now completely recovered from his injury. He has already resumed his practice around ten days ago. He has been training hard under the watchful eyes of Indian doubles specialist coach Mathias Boe in Hyderabad,” Satwik’s father Kasi Vishwanath told TOI on Friday.
Satwik and Chirag also missed Thailand Open after the India Open and slipped a spot down to world No. 6 in rankings.
“Satwik was a little upset when he suffered an injury in front of his home crowd in Delhi as he wanted to repeat last year’s winning show in the India Open. He then underwent rehabilitation in Hyderabad and is now ready for the busy season ahead. After reaching the semis in 2022 All England, he wants to do even better this year,” added his father.
Satwik and Chirag had a dream run in 2022 where they guided India to a maiden Thomas Cup triumph besides winning two World tour titles and claiming the Commonwealth Games gold medal.
