Shah: It’s appeasement vs development in Karnataka: Amit Shah | India News – Times of India

HUBBALLI/HASSAN/CHAMARAJANAGAR: Union home minister Amit Shah said Monday that if Karnataka were to be freed from the “appeasement politics” of Congress, then the state’s electorate must ensure a full majority for BJP in the May 10 assembly elections.
Addressing a large gathering after a roadshow in Gundlupet of Chamarajanagar district, Shah said Karnataka was all about PM Modi’s development politics versus the Congress’s appeasement politics.
“I want to assure the people of Karnataka that whatever the formula of reservation adopted by the Bommai government will be implemented in full. This includes internal reservation for Dalits. This is our promise,” Shah told reporters in Hubballi.
He said the BJP government has abolished the unconstitutional 4% reservation created by Congress for Muslims to forge its politics of appeasement. “The reservation created on the basis of religion has been withdrawn by BJP, and the benefits have been distributed among SCs, STs, OBCs, Vokkaligas and Lingayats, introducing social justice,” he said.
However, Congress is saying it will reintroduce Muslim reservations, he said. “I want to ask them with utmost humility: Whose share of quota will you reduce to bring it (the quota for Muslims) back? Would you reduce that of Vokkaligas, Lingayats, Dalits, or STs? Congress should be clear on this,” Shah said.
Congress puts national security at risk for the sake of its appeasement politics, while BJP is committed “to a secure Karnataka and a secure nation”, he said, citing examples of the alleged “free hand” given by Congress to the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI). “
The minister said former CM Jagadish Shettar, who recently quit BJP and joined Congress, will not win the polls since Hubballi-Dharwad Central (Shettar’s constituency that has elected him six times in a row) has always elected a BJP candidate.
After a mega roadshow in Sakaleshpur of Hassan, home district of JD(S) patriarch and former PM HD Deve Gowda, the Union minister said: “If you don’t want your votes to go to waste, cast them directly for BJP and its candidates. A vote for JD(S) is as good as a vote for Congress.”
