On April 20, Twitter officially discontinued the legendary blue checks, which were a mark of pride and official recognition. A whole lot of Bollywood actors have lost the blue tick on Twitter for being non-paying members. According to the new rules Twitter verification mark will be a paid service, costing USD 8 per month via the web and USD 11 per month through in-app payment on iOS and Android.
Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Rajinikanth and several other Bollywood actors have lost their verified status on Twitter. These actors enjoy millions of followers on social media. Interestingly, Nick Jonas continued the verified status on Twitter.
Reacting to losing the blue tick, actor and comedian Vir Das posted, “Bye blue tick. I’m okay with someone impersonating me on twitter. YOU deal with the things they call me.” He also tweeted, “How about this? If you like what I’m saying…it’s the real me. If you’re pissed off/offended/looking to take action/going to complain to some sort of metaphorical papa…..this account belongs to an unverified impersonator. Cool?”
