Sharib Hashmi on choosing scripts; says ‘money is important’ – Times of India

Over the years actor Sharib Hashmi has created a niche for himself with diverse projects and characters, with the notable ones being ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Scam 1992’ of late. The actor says, he would always prefer doing a good role in a small film, over a boring role in a big film anyday.

Speaking about the same with a news portal, Sharib says, he’d definitely choose small films given the fact that the character is interesting enough to explore. It’s not necessary for that character to be visible in every frame. “The role is very important. It also isn’t necessary that just because the role is meaty, I will do it, it should be a complete package,” Sharib told Hindustan Times.

Sharib is all set to share the screen space with Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in
Vikram Vedha. With this collaboration, Sharib was asked if he does big films sometimes for the money he gets, so that he can do smaller and meaningful films where the money isn’t much, like Nawazudding Siddiqui had confessed on doing earlier.

To which, the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor shares that unlike Nawaz, he can’t divide things like this. He considers Nawazuddin to be in a totally different league, and he hasn’t reached that position yet where he can look at such things.

When it comes to Sharib choosing projects, he acknowledges that it’s his gut making him realise how badly needs a role be it independent or mainstream cinema. He also added that there’s less money in big films at times and it all depends on the budgeting.

Sharib then added that money is very very important. The actor who is now in a good place professionally says that he’s happy to have the privilege to choose projects, and is willing to take risks and make mistakes.
