On the podcast Fashionably Pernia, Sonam talked about the changes her body and mind went through post giving birth to her child. Sonam said that she had gained 32 kilos and she was initially traumatised because of that.She became so obsessed with the baby, she was not really thinking about working out. It took a year and a half for her to be slow as she had to adjust to the new self.
She further added that everything in her life changed, including her relationship with herself and with her husband. It never made her feel like the way she used to feel about her body earlier. She started accepting the new version of herself.

On her official Instagram account, Sonam once wrote about weight loss, “It’s taken me 16 months to feel like myself again. Slowly, steadily, without any crash diets and crazy workouts, just consistent self-care and baby care. I’m not there yet but almost where I want to be… still very, very grateful for my body and how incredible it has been. Being a woman is a wondrous thing.”
