MUMBAI: In a minor accident, a SpiceJet aircraft which was being pushed back hit a pole at Delhi airport on Monday morning.
The trailing edge of one of the aircraft wings was damaged, leaving the aircraft grounded.
The incident occurred when a Boeing 737-800 aircraft was being readied to operate flight SG-160 from Delhi to Jammu.
“During push back, the right wing trailing edge came in close contact with a pole, causing damage to aileron,” said a SpiceJet spokesperson.
Photographs of the accident showed a portion of the aileron scooped out and the pole was left bent at an angle.

“A replacement aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight,” the spokesperson added. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 9.20 am has been inordinately delayed.
