Students should read more about freedom fighters: Dr OV Ramana – Times of India

GUNTUR: Noted homeo physician and Sri Kanakadurga temple trust board member, Dr O V Ramana has said that students should learn more about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to make India free from the British rule. He said that students should make a habit of extensive reading, particularly history of the freedom movement. Dr Ramana presented awards to the students who won the prizes on essay writing competition held to commemorate the sacrifices of noted freedom fighter Adapa Radhakrishna Murthy on his birth anniversary. The award presentation ceremony was held following covid-19 protocols on Monday.

Dr Ramana said that he was proud to associate with the children of great warriors like Adapa Radhakrishna Murthy. He explained that Murthy met Mahatma Gandhi during the latter’s visit to Tenali in his student days and joined the freedom movement. Subsequently, he quit the government job and participated in the Quit India movement following his association with another great freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu. “Students are setting more focus on their careers. There is nothing wrong in dreaming and designing their careers as per their choice. However, they should not forget the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters as they will inspire you to achieve your goals,” suggested Dr Ramana. Senior official of Union home ministry and grandson of Adapa Radhakrishna Murthy, ABV Sai Srinivas was also present.
