Surrogacy row: Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan gets a clean chit from government – Times of India

The final report on the Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan surrogacy row was made public yesterday and the couple has been given a clean chit by the Ministry of Health. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan tied the knot in June this year and on October 9 the couple announced that they are parents of two children. The state government set up a probe to inquire if the couple had abided by all the regulations enforced by the Indian surrogacy laws.

According to reports, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan submitted the required documents and it states that the couple had registered their marriage six years ago in 2016. The report also confirms that the surrogate mother is a relative of Nayanthara and she was married with a child and had followed all the rules. The committee in its report stated that Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara registered their marriage on March 11, 2016, and added that the couple has followed all the guidelines under the Indian surrogacy laws. The report also said that they have submitted all legal documents required under the ICMR rules.

The report also claimed that the committee found that the embryo was formed in August 2020 through cesarean and in November 2020, the surrogate mother had signed the required documents.
