Team India arrives in Colombo, gears up for Asia Cup opener against Pakistan | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Indian men’s cricket team landed in Colombo on Wednesday, marking the commencement of their preparations for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023 campaign. The team is set to kick off the tournament with a high-stakes clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2.
As the Indian contingent touched down at Colombo airport, a palpable sense of excitement filled the atmosphere. Amidst the hustle and bustle of arrivals, experienced batsman Virat Kohli and versatile all-rounder Hardik Pandya were spotted engrossed in conversation, laying the groundwork for the challenges ahead.
Inside the team bus, another scene unfolded as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, the ever-charismatic Ravindra Jadeja, pace ace Mohammad Shami, and India’s head coach Rahul Dravid were seen sharing camaraderie, exchanging laughter, and engrossed in jovial discussions.

In the lead-up to the clash with Pakistan, the Indian team will miss the services of their star batter KL Rahul. Rahul is currently recuperating from a minor niggle and, according to Rahul Dravid, will be placed under the watchful eye of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) until September 4. Dravid expressed optimism about Rahul’s recovery, highlighting positive progress in his rehabilitation journey.
Pakistan, India, and Nepal are in Group A, while Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka form Group B. The Asia Cup 2023 introduces a hybrid format, with Pakistan hosting matches at two venues and Sri Lanka overseeing the remaining encounters.
